About us

Supporting Students with Dignity

We partner with more than 150 schools across Chicago to support thousands of students who face hygiene insecurity during their education. Through these partnerships, we work closely with school staff and advocates to ensure students have access to essential health and hygiene items — the everyday basics that are often overlooked, yet deeply impactful.

Our approach centers on care closets located within schools. These closets are stocked multiple times throughout the year with items such as personal and dental hygiene supplies, socks and underwear, hats and gloves, feminine hygiene products, and basic first aid materials. By providing consistent access in a familiar and trusted environment, students can receive what they need privately and with dignity.

We do this because students are our future. Research shows that a significant number of Chicago Public School students will experience housing instability at some point in their education. When basic needs go unmet, it becomes harder for students to stay engaged, confident, and focused in the classroom. By removing these barriers and responding with dignity and grace, we help keep students in school and create the conditions for long-term opportunity, equity, and growth.

Our Namesake

Grace,
Sarah’s Grandmother

She embodied “dignity and grace” in all that she did. She never failed to offer a helping hand to someone in need or a simple smile to brighten up a stranger’s day.  Her happiness and warmth were felt by all who crossed her path. We hope our efforts through The Grace Network would have made her proud.
